just for you
A Letter to Damian

Damian,
I made you a website. Of course I did.
I’m not sure I know how to say the big things without making them into something — a project, a gesture, a thing with a scroll bar and hover states. That’s just how I love. Maybe you’ve noticed.
What I know for certain is this: being with you is the best part of my life. Not a part — the part. The part everything else fits around.
We’ve done escape rooms. We’ve watched rockets launch. We’ve been to space — almost. We’ve spent ordinary Tuesday nights doing nothing important, which is, it turns out, the most important thing.
You make me want to go everywhere. And stay home. At the same time, always.
I love the way you look at things — with curiosity first, judgment second, almost never. I love that you got into an astronaut suit without a second thought. I love that we’ve been on a Wall of Fame at an escape room venue and somehow that felt like a major life achievement.
I love that the best photo I’ve ever taken was of us, on a random evening, watching a sunset turn the whole sky into something ridiculous. You were just standing there and I thought: how is this my life?
In the good way. The best way. The only way I want it.
I’m proud of us. Proud of what we’ve built — adventures, trust, a running list of inside jokes, and apparently a very solid escape room record.
You are my favorite adventure. Every single day.
All of it — yours,
Corey
